Damen Avenue 1
Back in the nineties, Wicker Park was very different than it is now. Then, it was a wonderful place, edgy, a little seedy and full of art, music, activism and fun…the kind of neighborhood one wants to call home. And unfortunately, a lot of people did so now it’s become just another shopping mall full of beards, yoga pants, fancy restaurants, high rents and stores nobody over 25 gives a shit about…but every once in a while, when going to Wicker for the purpose of Myopic Books, I’m reminded of the fun the neighborhood used to be before it became exactly the same as every gentrified neighborhood everywhere.
Have a nice day.
