Morning – Chicago

This was taken during the Lollapalooza weekend here in Chicago. Many a character were out and about, at least on the surface, though they all seemed to fill a certain mold, that kind of outdoor music festival of colorful clothes, long beards and assorted whatnot that are kind of becoming their own uniform of difference, so admittedly I was kind of bored with it and had considered heading to Chinatown to take pictures, when I stumbled upon this young woman who for reasons I can’t clearly define, interested me…

Have a nice day.

The Loop in Chicago, some days of shooting are good, some bad. This day in particular I’d been wandering around for the better part of two hours and taken a hundred photos of shit. Frustrated, I headed for the blue line train to go home and stumbled onto this image. I wasn’t sure at the time how it was going to turn out but I think it came through okay, all of it reminding me of several essays I’d read about street photography…it only takes one shot to make the day worthwhile and you better be ready when it comes.

Have a nice day.
