BP: talk to Feinberg, Feinberg: they did, and the answer is no…

A delegation travelled to London this week to accuse BP of ignoring the claims of minorities and the damages they sustained from the oil spill. “The 5-member delegation represents Operation People for Peace, a coalition that advocates for those who were harmed by the spill but were left out of the compensation process, according to the group’s founder, Art Rocker.  Rocker, a Pensacola minister and … Continue reading BP: talk to Feinberg, Feinberg: they did, and the answer is no…

The point is, nobody knows…

Over a year in, and the spill heard round the Gulf remains in its infancy. Sucks to write it, read it or hear it, but nonetheless it’s the truth. Sure, a large portion of the oil has been cleaned up and yes, the tourists are coming back. One might head down to the Gulf, take a look at the water and see that everything looks … Continue reading The point is, nobody knows…

Feinberg’s austerity health cuts…

Ain’t just Washington DC Republicans and Democrats wheeling and dealing with austerity cuts to harm the people of this country, their health and the environment, (gotta keep that spending and revenue down so them wealthy job creators can keep on job creating) Feinberg, administrator of the GCCF is doing his part too, assisting British Petroleum and their $5 billion dollar plus profit this quarter by making austerity cuts to any sort of health … Continue reading Feinberg’s austerity health cuts…

$450 dollars for being knocked through a plate glass window? Man, those claimants are ridiculous…

Last year, I was walking down the street when a police car jumped the curb and hit a garbage can. This receptacle flew through the air, striking myself and three others, knocking us all through a plate-glass window of a downtown ice cream shop. Well, of course all four of us sued the city. The cop was texting at the time and not paying attention … Continue reading $450 dollars for being knocked through a plate glass window? Man, those claimants are ridiculous…

About that audit…Hood questions and Florida wants in…

On Wednesday, US Attorney General announced via letter that he and Ken Feinberg had agreed to an independent audit of the GCCF’s claims process, and whereas this audit was perceived to be a welcome idea, one whose time is long since due…there remained some concerns. Writing two days ago, I expressed a number of questions about how encompassing this audit might be, about the fairness … Continue reading About that audit…Hood questions and Florida wants in…

Independent audit of GCCF? Great, how about BP too?

Rep. Joe Bonner of Alabama, member of the House Appropriations Committee called for an independent audit of the GCCF this week, something many Gulf Coast residents have been wanting to see happen for some time now. Bonner made this request to the Justice Department, and the request has been included in legislation that was approved on Wednesday. “As we approach the one-year anniversary of the creation of the GCCF, … Continue reading Independent audit of GCCF? Not one, is not unreasonable…

In article after article on the spill and the GCCF, come the words, “slipping through the cracks,” in reference to the inevitability that some who have rightful claim to the British Petroleum compensation fund will be denied payment for any number of reasons…they couldn’t prove their physical ailments came as a result of exposure to the spill, they didn’t have the proper documentation, they didn’t … Continue reading Not one, is not unreasonable…

Kenneth Feinberg “says” things are picking up…well, Ken “says” a lot of things…

Ken Feinberg, in an article from yesterday’s Times-Picayune, reports the pace of payments by the GCCF have improved, sped up and are finally hitting their stride. In the article by David Hammer, it is reported the average amount of final payments have increased, as has the percentage of final payments paid, also, the GCCF has processed 95% of the 300,000 claims that were filed before … Continue reading Kenneth Feinberg “says” things are picking up…well, Ken “says” a lot of things…

It’s okay everybody…Tony’s doing fine…

April 20th, 2010…remember where you were? How long did it take for you to realize there was an ongoing serious problem? How many days had to go by before it occurred the problem was tremendous, huge and that oil, it was going to keep on coming…all the way into shore…all the way into the career of Tony Hayward, splattering it with hydrocarbons and goo… I don’t know … Continue reading It’s okay everybody…Tony’s doing fine…

Wait…didn’t he say there were no health claims?

Well, what do you know? Turns out that Feinberg previously admitted the GCCF had received health claims, but they had all been denied due to lack of documentation. “Feinberg says that the GCCF, which was set up by BP to compensate those impacted by its disaster in the Gulf, would theoretically grant health claims related to the cleanup effort.  But he said he has, “reservations about whether … Continue reading Wait…didn’t he say there were no health claims?

The people in power will not disappear voluntarily, giving flowers to the cops just isn't going to work. This thinking is fostered by the establishment; they like nothing better than love and nonviolence. The only way I like to see cops given flowers is in a flowerpot from a high window.

The surest way to work up a crusade in favor of some good cause is to promise people they will have the chance of maltreating someone. To be able to destroy with good conscience, to be able to behave badly and call your bad behavior 'righteous indignation' - this is the height of psychological luxury, the most delicious of moral treats.
