More agendas than shrimp in the Gulf…

It’s got to be hard to be a shrimper. I know I certainly don’t envy anyone who makes their living by what they catch from Gulf waters, be they shrimpers or fishers or whoever, because things don’t seem to be getting much better. The catch, especially the shrimp catch is way off, with some shrimpers estimating their catch to be off by 80%. In one article I read, a … Continue reading More agendas than shrimp in the Gulf…

BP and VoO: Working for free to protect the environment – it’s a start…

Have you seen the commercials British Petroleum will still occasionally run that purports their efforts to be environmentally friendly? Yep, they were/are a friend to the environment, ready to invest all that money in alternative energy, ready to go Beyond Petroleum They even had a tag-line, “BP: It’s a start.” Yeah…but it was of course (as are all things BP) about money: “Investors choose whose … Continue reading BP and VoO: Working for free to protect the environment – it’s a start…

Ken Feinberg’s next modification…

Feinberg has maintained that periodically he will be taking a look at the GCCF, it’s claims structures and the state of the Gulf to determine whether any modification to payments is necessary. It is this reappraisal which led to the changes last August where businesses had to show a growth rate of five percent to qualify for continued payment of interim claims. This is also … Continue reading Ken Feinberg’s next modification…

GCCF Follies from the Times-Picayune…

Two interesting articles about the operations from the Gulf Coast Claims Facility in the Times Picayune yesterday, discussing some of the problems many of the fishermen have been having in their attempts to receive compensations from the fund, and some of Feinberg’s responses to these problems. Some highlights: On the plight of Elmer Rogers, a shrimper who has been waiting for compensation since August: “If … Continue reading GCCF Follies from the Times-Picayune…

To visit tenderloinconcrete for shopping: t-shirts, hoodies, etc... https://tenderloinconcrete.com

The people in power will not disappear voluntarily, giving flowers to the cops just isn't going to work. This thinking is fostered by the establishment; they like nothing better than love and nonviolence. The only way I like to see cops given flowers is in a flowerpot from a high window.

William Burroughs

The surest way to work up a crusade in favor of some good cause is to promise people they will have the chance of maltreating someone. To be able to destroy with good conscience, to be able to behave badly and call your bad behavior 'righteous indignation' - this is the height of psychological luxury, the most delicious of moral treats.

Aldous Huxley
