I’m truly concerned for BP CEO Tony Hayward. For the past two weeks I’ve been doing exhaustive research on two of my favorite subjects (oil spill and porn stars) and I notice alarming similarities between Shannon Wilsey, AKA Savannah (legendary porn star who left this world in 1994) and our aforementioned CEO of British Petroleum. As I’ve read her story and watched the news I can no longer remain silent. I can’t. I am simply not that irresponsible and as an Adult Crisis Intervention Specialist, it would be criminal of me to do so. Laws, man, there are laws! The research I’ve undertaken is irrefutable. The time to act is now lest we all have to live with the potential tragedy unfolding in Tony’s life, which I’m afraid could very soon end. We need him and he needs us. Sincerely, he’s running this clean-up in the Gulf of Mexico and where would we be without him? The entire Gulf could perish unless we act now!
So please, read on and you too will feel as I feel. We must act, do something quick before we lose this great man, like we lost Savannah, one of the greatest porn actresses of all time…
Just read these startling similarities…all true!
1.
Savannah worked in the porn industry
Tony Hayward works in the oil industry.
Porn is an entertainment industry or a sick deviance of humankind, depending on whom one might ask, while the oil industry refines a fossil fuel relied upon by people worldwide for energy. Both of these companies produce products that are often cited as being addictive and if used too frequently, harmful. Some groups have been known to go even further in their descriptions however…often maintaining that porn is responsible for turning men into rapists, sexual abusers and most importantly, turning people away from God, meanwhile…people who believe in environmental conservation and global warming often cite oil and fossil fuels as being destructive of the planet and soon, the human race as a whole. Well, God created the world according to those often critical of porn, and turning from God destroys our society, and if the society is destroyed that could very well destroy the human race just like the aforementioned oil industry. These organizations, (depending on whom you might ask) while maintaining an innocent disposition above ground often find themselves linked to our oncoming Armageddon. Brother and sister in destruction and sin, so to speak. Their reasons might be different, but the end result is the same. Game over, and they have to live with it. So, if all this is true, imagine if you will being in the employ of such companies. Imagine having to go to the grocery store, sporting events, to church even with the knowledge that you are being blamed for the destruction of the human race. This is a lot of pressure. This would create a great deal of self loathing. It would create the kind of atmosphere that can only be coped with by people of a flexible morality, the kind of flexibility that would find it okay to commit suicide if events became terrible enough and give one the will to go through with it. Porn and oil are linked in their tendency to destroy, the inclination towards amorality and the potential for direct self harm.
Savannah went through a terrible ordeal, and she killed herself.
Tony Hayward is going through a terrible ordeal, and I’m frightened.
2.
Savannah was notoriously difficult to get along with
on the set.
Tony Hayward is notoriously difficult to get answers
from on the set.
This goes to the heart of their stress factors and stability. Savannah was often criticized by her fellow actors and actresses of being late, of being argumentative and when she was confronted, of being dishonest. Now, this purports to be only rumor and innuendo but you know what they say about oil on a beach, it has to be coming from somewhere. I’m sure that by now, many of you have seen Tony in his press briefings and interviews on television. What we see is a testy individual and I will admit, he is trying very hard to show a certain sense of grace and compassion about this whole affair, but with strain that visible in his eyes, the wrinkles that line his expression, not to mention a certain argumentative nature that often comes out when he is confronted Again, the similarities between these two tragic figures grow uncomfortable. And we should of course mention what poor Tony often does regarding this catastrophe. Remember the days of 5000 gallons of oil? How about the low ball-estimates of the miles of beach and wetlands being affected, the binding agreements fisherman were supposed to sign, oil plumes, time estimates and the whole success of the top kill affair? With the amount of lies gushing through his pipe, I believe his stability is truly in question…just like Savannah’s in the days leading up to her suicide.
3.
Savannah, according to some, whored herself for money
on film.
Tony Hayward, according to some is whoring himself
for BP investors on film.
This just continues to add up.
Now, the porn industry can be seen in two ways and much of this will depend on whom you ask. To people who enjoy porn and those who are part of the industry they will often speak of how porn enhances relationships, is harmless fun, is liberating, of how they enjoy the sexual adventures, of being serious actors and actresses who chose this route as a stepping stone towards their own production companies or to mainstream acting success – we hear all of these stories, over and over again – but to those more critical one will often hear tales of drugged actresses on film, of porn just being legalized prostitution as they are selling themselves for money and in some extremes, some feminist groups have considered all porn to be rape. Savannah, being a part of this industry, probably saw little difficulty in the pro side of the argument, at least in her public face but privately, perhaps, maybe she did consider herself somewhat of a whore, selling herself for money when she wasn’t enjoying the rock star lifestyle.
Well, in the oil industry exists two sides as well. The pro-oil side will speak of providing a product in the marketplace to be bought by consumers where profits are enjoyed by both shareholders and employees of the oil company. The con-oil side will speak of corporations who rape the earth for profit, all the while destroying whole eco-systems even when things are done correctly and there are no deep sea platform explosions that kill directly. They speak of climate change and fossil fuels, of need, of greedy consumers exploiting the future lives of their grandchildren in the name of today’s profits. And who enjoys these profits the most? Shareholders. If one doesn’t make enough profit, then the shareholders lose money and they sell the shares thus devalue-ing the company further, and then nobody makes a profit…well, not as big a profit. Now a reasonable person can see that climate change is occurring and there is a general consensus among scientists that fossil fuels play a huge role. Climate change will eventually destroy all we know. Reasonable people with even a minute understanding of science see and know this, and I believe Tony Hayward is a reasonable man, which means that he knows his product will destroy life as we know it down the road. So then why would he do what he does? Profit. He sells his conscience and humanity down the road for profit. And this was before the BP Gulf Oil Catastrophe. Now, still concerned about the profit, he stretches the truth or lies (depending upon your point of view) and this would seem to be dine in an effort to maintain the public face of British Petroleum. In the meantime, energies are wasted that could be used to lay boom, to invite scientists in to further assist in the tremendous job BP is already doing, to open up all information to come to a complete and quicker solution as opposed to this obfuscation that only depletes energy, wastes time and helps nobody except perhaps the face of BP and in kind, BP stockholders.
This, of course, would seem to me to be all the actions of a whore.
Which of course makes both Savannah and Tony Hayward a whore, depending upon whom you ask. It is also another indication of poor judgment and instability and a warning sign to me that Tony Hayward is on the dark path…just like Savannah.
Save Tony Hayward!
And it goes on…
4.
Savannah, after her rise in the porn industry
became addicted to drugs.
Tony Hayward after his rise in the oil industry
became addicted to cash.

It is no Hollywood secret that Savannah went through a terrible depression as a result of many things in her life, lost love, had great financial problems, perhaps porn had been taking its toll on her psyche or maybe something happened to her as a child. Tony Hayward, being a reasonable man, works in an industry he knows is wreaking havoc upon the environment, upon lives, and now with the advent of the BP Gulf Oil Catastrophe destroying entire ways of life, untold amounts of species, habitats, whole industries, and one state down, three more to go. So, finding themselves in these situations, what did these two peas in a pod choose to do? Savannah turned to drugs and her drug use is rather legendary, and because of it her financial problems continued and her life further spiraled. Tony Hayward turned to addiction as well to soothe his oily conscience and his addiction of choice is money and profit. Why wouldn’t he just quit? He can’t quit. As a social worker I’ve seen it a thousand times. Not only is he addicted to the money, he’s addicted to the lifestyle, the corporate jets, the fancy dinners, all the friends who share in and thus, embolden his addiction. Those who get hurt in the process be damned. The warning signs are all there: lies, hiding, keeping scrutiny away, putting on a good public face. It’s ugly, but when you’ve seen it as often as I have you can tick off these symptoms without so much as a thought. Instability and similarity. It is as if these two lives have been linked by God.
We gotta help Tony!
5.
Savannah had a horrible car accident that disfigured
her face.
Tony Hayward had a horrible oil accident that disfigured
the Gulf of Mexico.
Savannah, on drugs and alcohol ran her corvette off the road near her home. Her face struck the windshield and she suffered lacerations and a broken nose. The injury was apparently quite serious and she thought she would be disfigured for life. As she was in the porn industry, there went her revenue stream; she had no way to make money. Tony Hayward, while CEO of BP had one of his oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico explode, killing eleven workers and starting the greatest environmental disaster in Unite States history. Despite already having spent one billion dollars on the clean-up (according to their estimates but we’ve learned about poor Tony and confrontation/addiction) almost the entire Gulf of Mexico has been disfigured, and the lawsuits and lawyers and everything to come will put a dent in BP’s profits for a little while, thus seriously endangering his revenue stream. Tony is running out of ways to make money.
If these similar stories don’t strike fear, you haven’t been paying attention.
As a crisis worker, I am paying very serious attention, deadly serious.
6.
Savannah just wanted her old face and life back.
Tony Hayward just wanted his life back.
After Savannah’s face was injured, what with her addiction and financial problems and her loss of revenue she understandably wanted her old life back, from before the accident, and her world was getting darker by the minute. Tony, in an interview was asked about the stress of the explosion, and he stated he “Wanted his old life back.” Scary, isn’t it? Can’t you feel the angst, the frustration? Think of his comparable addictions, the economical ruin, the ensuing depression and the Gulf of Mexico; the water grows darker by the minute.
I know a recipe for imminent disaster when I see one.
7.
Savannah committed suicide with a handgun.
Tony Hayward ?
The night of the accident, back in the house, Savannah reportedly looked in the mirror, sobbing. Her companion, she asked him to walk her dog for her and when he was gone…she took a handgun and blew her head apart. She couldn’t handle the stress, the ruin, the drugs, the debt…and she took the only way out she could see…
NOW WHAT ABOUT TONY?
WHAT DO WE DO?
It’s as if these people are the yin and yang of tragedy and Savannah, she already took her life. Can you sit silently back and say these parallels are just coincidence? Not if you are a thinking, feeling, human being…the same kind of person Tony Hayward once was. We cannot afford his loss. It is time for intervention. Between the addiction, the industry, the lament for his old life, the whoring on film for all the world to see, we are witnessing a breakdown all too comparable to Savannah’s. Everyone, contact British Petroleum and let them know you will not stand by and watch this man shoot himself in the head. The Gulf of Mexico needs his help, and it needs his help now…where would Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida be without this man and his friends?… Certainly the poorer for it. We cannot let anything happen to him. Nothing!
We all must work to keep Tony alive now…
Ideas anyone?
ANYONE?
