Feinberg fails, to succeed…and gets a raise!

Guess who’s getting more money in the Gulf? If you guessed claimants, you don’t read this blog too often, but if you guessed Feinberg…you win! And what do you win? Your very own gift-wrapped box of anger and frustration. Just announced, Feinberg and his law firm had their rate of pay increased from $850,000 dollars a month to $1.25 million dollars. Obviously because of the … Continue reading Feinberg fails, to succeed…and gets a raise!

Here come the Attorneys General…but where’s Obama?

The Attorney General of Alabama, Luther Strange wrote a letter to Ken Feinberg about his concerns with the GCCF and the payment of claims, highlighting many of the problems with the process that have been highlighted here and on several other websites. Among his concerns: 1. Of all the claims reportedly paid, 98.9 % are the quick pay claims, claims that require no processing and … Continue reading Here come the Attorneys General…but where’s Obama?

It’s (still) the transparency, stupid…

Ken, Ken, Ken… Mr. Feinberg? Can I call you Ken? I feel that since I’ve been writing about you so much these past few months that I’ve almost gotten to know you, not in that best friends at summer camp kind of way, but more like a co-worker, a co-worker I don’t care for very much. You know, that person in the office who you … Continue reading It’s (still) the transparency, stupid…

Ken Feinberg sued and so far, turned down

In the past two weeks, Ken Feinberg and the GCCF have made 8100 final payment offers to claimants on the Gulf Coast. So far, only 2.5% of them have been accepted, though claimants have 90 days to decide. That’s about 200 people out of 8100 accepting these offers. Why? Perhaps it might have something to do with the average amount of the offers so far … Continue reading Ken Feinberg sued and so far, turned down

Dear Mr. Feinberg…Frankly, I don’t give a damn how much you’ve already paid out…and more…

Ed Note: Mr. Feinberg just released methodology on interim and final claims… More on that Friday… In the past few days, Ken Feinberg and co. have come under increasing attack… Bobby Jindal finally said something about the claims process and joined his Attorney General, Bobby Caldwell in filing a motion to request a federal judge to oversee the oil leaks claim process. Joining him is … Continue reading Dear Mr. Feinberg…Frankly, I don’t give a damn how much you’ve already paid out…and more…

An Open Letter to Gulf Coast Residents…

Dear Claimant, Hey, how’s it going? Weather’s pretty warm for a January, huh? Yeah, I was able to leave all the really cold weather clothes back at the hotel and…okay, first, allow me to introduce myself. Well, kind of introduce myself… I work for a rather unpopular agency down in the Gulf Coast. Let’s call it an insurance company and yeah, turns out we’re about … Continue reading An Open Letter to Gulf Coast Residents…

As problems persist in the Gulf, listening ain’t hearing…

Several meetings over two days, 2-300 people a meeting and so many, overwhelmingly critical of the GCCF’s Kenneth Feinberg who stood in front of everyone and extended his empathy, said he was doing the best he could, repeatedly said he would check into it, look it up, see what he could do while at the same time emphasizing the people harmed by BP’s oil spill … Continue reading As problems persist in the Gulf, listening ain’t hearing…

By putting ourselves below everyone, we're building in a defense mechanism. Protecting against real engagement. By imagining that no one wants us, that all others are so different from us, we're privileging our own point of view.

Charles Yu

The people in power will not disappear voluntarily, giving flowers to the cops just isn't going to work. This thinking is fostered by the establishment; they like nothing better than love and nonviolence. The only way I like to see cops given flowers is in a flowerpot from a high window.

William Burroughs

The surest way to work up a crusade in favor of some good cause is to promise people they will have the chance of maltreating someone. To be able to destroy with good conscience, to be able to behave badly and call your bad behavior 'righteous indignation' - this is the height of psychological luxury, the most delicious of moral treats.

Aldous Huxley

Have a nice day...
