Stepping back and looking in…what to do now?

What a week… Lot of news from the Gulf these past few days…so this morning, I kinda stepped back a bit and cleared the mind before taking a look at this whole mess from the outside…especially in light of a reader comment I received yesterday, who asked what people can do to keep the pressure on British Petroleum and the GCCF. But before I get to … Continue reading Stepping back and looking in…what to do now?

The GCCF Methodology…experts, experts and more experts, paid for by BP

On Wednesday, Ken Feinberg and the GCCF released their methodology to show how interim and final payments will be determined. They highlighted a chorus of retained and consulted experts who expect the Gulf to be back to normal by 2012. They also pointed out, a few times, how claimants would be eligible for twice their documented 2010 damages and eligible oyster harvesters could receive four … Continue reading The GCCF Methodology…experts, experts and more experts, paid for by BP

Judge Barbier Rules! Feinberg is not independent…

Late yesterday afternoon, US District Judge Barbier issued a ruling that bans the “neutral” arbitrator of oil spill claims from repeating his mantra that he is independent of British Petroleum. “After reviewing the facts and submissions by the parties, the court finds that BP has created a hybrid entity, rather than one that is fully independent of BP,” Barbier wrote in his ruling. “While BP … Continue reading Judge Barbier Rules! Dear Mr. Feinberg…Frankly, I don’t give a damn how much you’ve already paid out…and more…

Ed Note: Mr. Feinberg just released methodology on interim and final claims… More on that Friday… In the past few days, Ken Feinberg and co. have come under increasing attack… Bobby Jindal finally said something about the claims process and joined his Attorney General, Bobby Caldwell in filing a motion to request a federal judge to oversee the oil leaks claim process. Joining him is … Continue reading Dear Mr. Feinberg…Frankly, I don’t give a damn how much you’ve already paid out…and more…

It would appear BP’s still runnin’ this show…

A few days ago, I wrote a little something about British Petroleum having the power to make sure people filing claims in the Gulf – quick, interim or final – were treated fairly and generously by Ken Feinberg’s GCCF. Well, it would appear they have decided to exercise that power, for one lucky claimant, and that’s not all…apparently they’ve also given a healthy shove to … Continue reading It would appear BP’s still runnin’ this show…

The people in power will not disappear voluntarily, giving flowers to the cops just isn't going to work. This thinking is fostered by the establishment; they like nothing better than love and nonviolence. The only way I like to see cops given flowers is in a flowerpot from a high window.

The surest way to work up a crusade in favor of some good cause is to promise people they will have the chance of maltreating someone. To be able to destroy with good conscience, to be able to behave badly and call your bad behavior 'righteous indignation' - this is the height of psychological luxury, the most delicious of moral treats.
