Rigs, ships moving away from Gulf Oil Spill Site as tropical Storm Bonnie Approaches…well cap stays on?

Following Federal orders on Thursday night, crews began disconnecting the rigs drilling the relief wells in anticipation of Tropical Storm Bonnie’s arrival. This will delay the effort to plug the Macondo well by up to two weeks. BP and government officials also said Thursday that the cap now sealing the well and preventing oil from flowing into the sea will remain in place during a … Continue reading Rigs, ships moving away from Gulf Oil Spill Site as tropical Storm Bonnie Approaches…well cap stays on?

PSI…BP and the Feds Grading the Pressure Readings On the Curve…Yeah! Everybody Passes!

Last night I threw out a message, observing how it seemed every time we turned around either someone from British Petroleum or the Feds were changing the rules on this well cap. When all this began last week, when BP put the new containment riser onto the Macondo well and stopped the flow of oil from entering the gulf we were all told that the … Continue reading PSI…BP and the Feds Grading the Pressure Readings On the Curve…Yeah! Update: Oil seeping from Gulf floor near well, but Coast Guard allows cap to stay in place another 24 hours

Retired Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen on Sunday evening agreed to allow a cap to continue to block the flow of oil from the Deepwater Horizon wellhead, despite the discovery of oil or natural gas seeping from the floor of the Gulf of Mexico at a location away from the well. BP, when you live by the lie, you die by the lie…

So British Petroleum stopped the oil flow from the well… “It’s a (expletive) lie,” shouted Stephon LaFrance, one of several oil-stained oyster harvesters standing around Delta Marina in marshy Plaquemines Parish. “I don’t believe they stopped that leak. BP’s trying to make their self look good.” “It doesn’t mean anything,” Craig St. Amant said as he tried to sell tours to passers-by on Bourbon Street … Continue reading BP, when you live by the lie, you die by the lie…

From the Times -Picayune: There was no oil flowing into the Gulf of Mexico this afternoon after BP crews managed to shut in the leaking Macondo well. The company is now conducting a “well integrity test” to determine if the well can remain closed until it can be permanently shut with cement next month. The test will last anywhere from 6 to 48 hours, during which time scientists … Continue reading Update: Oil Well is Closed, Integrity Test Begins
